Amateur Radio Operator Credentialing Requirements
For Amateur Radio Operators that are interested in helping out with large scale and local emergencies, a credentialing system has been set up. This will give Emergency Managers a common reference to evaluate and request Radio Operators by skill level. The levels set up are:
Radio Operator IV
-Emergency Communications group affiliation (ARES, RACES/ACT, MARS, etc.)
-Technician class license or higher
-Incident Command Structure 100 (IS-100) course completion
-National Incident Management System 700 (IS-700) course completion
Radio Op III
-All of Radio Op IV plus:
-General class license or higher
-ICS 200 (IS-200)
-NIMS 800 (IS-800)
-EmComm I from ARRL
Radio Op II
-All of Radio Op III plus:
-Hold a leadership role in an EmComm group
-Proficiency in one mode other than voice
-ICS 300 (IS-300)
-NIMS 802 (IS-802)
-EmComm II
Radio Op I
-All of Radio Op II plus:
-EmComm III
-Regional EmComm Team member (teams to be developed)
-Medical check & inoculations
-Background check in home jurisdiction
